Privacy Policy
How Kamba Caucus Welfare collects, uses and protects personal information shared through this website.
Who we are
Kamba Caucus Welfare (“the Group”, “we”) is a member-led welfare self help group based in Kenya. This policy explains how we handle personal information submitted through kambacaucus.org. We are committed to handling personal data lawfully and fairly, in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.
Information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us through our forms:
- Contact form: your name, email address, optional mobile number and your message.
- Membership application: your first name, last name, email address and phone number.
- Members portal updates: your name (optional), email and/or mobile number.
For security we also record basic technical information such as a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address and your browser type, to protect our forms from abuse.
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry.
- To assess and process your membership application and contact you about it.
- To send you confirmation messages by email and SMS when you submit a form.
- To notify you when the members’ portal launches, if you asked us to.
- To keep our website secure and prevent spam.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or add you to marketing lists.
Legal basis
We process your information on the basis of your consent (which you give when submitting a form), and where necessary to take steps at your request before you become a member.
Who can see your information
Only authorised office bearers and administrators of the Group can access submitted information, through a password-protected administration area. We use trusted service providers to deliver email and SMS messages on our behalf; they receive only what is needed to deliver the message.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping. Membership applications are kept as part of membership records, or deleted if an application does not proceed, in line with the Group’s record-keeping rules.
Security
Our website uses secure connections (HTTPS), access controls, encrypted storage of service credentials and other safeguards. No website can be completely secure, so please never send passwords, PINs or payment details through our forms.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent at any time. Email us at info@kambacaucus.org and we will respond within a reasonable time. You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (Kenya).
